When is the Best Time for Trekking in Nepal Himalayas

Nepal Himalayas are the best for trekking and hiking. Those who will not able to climb the mountain can trek to the foothills or basecamp. In Nepal, trekking is possible all the time in a year. Nepal Trekking is possible round the year depending on where you want to go. However, the best season for trekking in Nepal Himalayas are from mid march to mid June and mid September to mid December. These month falls on Spring and Autumn season.

Probably the most commonly asked question is when to go Nepal Trekking or When is the best time for Nepal Trekking Holidays. There are two main trekking seasons, pre-monsoon and post-monsoon.

Pre-Monsoon Season
The pre-monsoon season start around the start of March and continues until the end of May. The weather and climate is pleasant at the lower elevation (between 800m and 2000m). Annapurna trek around Pokhara valley is best during this time.The advantage to hike during the March and April in Annapurna region is that the forest is colorful with the rhododendrons blossom.

Post-monsoon Season
Starting from mid September to the mid of December, Nepal trekking is best with the clear blue skies and beautiful panoramic views of mountains after the monsoon season. This is the best season for photography and videography tour in Nepal Himalayas.

Winter Season
Winter season starting from December to February is not the recommended time for trekking in high elevations above 3000m. However, you can go trekking below 3000m and there are many trekking trails which are short, easy and beautiful.

Summer/Monsoon Season
Monsoon season is also not prefered for trekking but there are some regions which are best during this time. Upper Dolpo Trek and Upper Mustang treks are the best trekking trails during monsoon season.

Four people including Spanish national died in landslide in Manaslu Trekking Trail

Four people in Annapurna Trekking trail died on Thursday. Six people are injured and evacuated to hospital in Kathmandu by helicopter. According to Janak Raj Pandey, Chief, Gorkha district police office, four trekkers including a spanish national died in a landslide that occurred at Dovan, Keraunja VDC-9, Gorkha district at around 8 am thursday.

According to pandey, Dorje Lama and Chhiri Sherpa, temporary residents of Gokarna, Kathmandu, and Ranjana Basnet of Okhaldhunga district died in the landslip.

Manaslu Circuit Trek


The spanish, who died in landslide has been identified as Adolfo Ripa Arizala. He formed part of a group of 15 Spanish trekkers, who were accompanied by four Sherpas in the region in the Himalayan mountain range in the west-central part of Nepal.

The Spanish were part of a group which was organized by the tour operator Naturtrek, a Spanish company which specializes in trekking an adventure holidays. They had been in the region for a week and were due to return to Spain on Oct. 7.
