Teej is the biggest festival of Hindu women that falls on the third day of the first fortnight of the month of Bhadra. It is the three day festival celebrated by women in the honor of Lord Shiva and Parvati. This festival falls on Monsoon season in August.
Hindu women (either married or unmarried) celebrate this festival in three phases; first day feast day (Dar Khane Din), second day fasting day and third day rishi panchami puja. During festival celebration, married women go their maternal house and have a delicious food called Dar till the midnight, sing, dance, keep fasting praying the long life of their husband without having a drop of water. Unmarried women also keep fasting as they will be blessed by a good husband in future.
