Crazy about Nepal, trek to Gosainkunda this monsoon - Janai Purnima Full Moon Day Festival

If you are planning for trekking holidays in Nepal, might be wondered about which season/time is the best for hiking. Trekking in Nepal can be done throughout the year but there are some months which are best for hiking and walking through the himalayan trail. Autumn Season (September, October, November) and Spring Season (March, April and May) are the best seasons for trekking in Nepal as these months are peak trekking time and offer the best mountain views with clear clear and blossom of colorful flowers over the hillside.

While others go for trekking during peak trekking season, be crazy and go for trek during the monsoon season. As a whole monsoon trekking isn't worst, there are some facts which you will not experience in other season. The colorful festivals, the green lush vegetation, unique agricultural cultivation/green rice paddy fields, blooming flowers are the some goldenline facts that monsoon season offer for you. Trekking to rain-shadow areas  and trekking trails like Upper Mustang Trekking, Upper Dolpo Trek, Humla Limi Valley Trek, Tilicho Lake Trek, Langtang Valley Trek, Nar Phu Valley Trek, Jomsom Muktinath Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek are the best hiking trails during monsoon but here we are discussing about Gosaikunda Lake Trek which is considered to be best during the monsoon season as there is a festival called Janai Purnima (The festival of sacred Thread).

Leeches and rain, what monsoon season has its drawback but if you have decided to go Gosainkunda these are not the major things to consider. But you know Janai purnima festival falls on August and the full moon day, the Hindu pilgrims gatter in Gosaikunda, take a dip bath and change their sacred thread and Brahman priests tie colorful sacred threads around the wrists of the faithful.

Gosaikunda, Rasuwa
Located at an altitude of 4380m from the sea level in Rasuwa District, Gosaikunda is a sacred holy lake in Nepal. With a surface area of 13.8 ha, the gosaikunda lakes is 1030 ha with associated lakes and it has been listed as a Ramsar site on 29 September 2007.This is a important religious site as it is the abode of Hindu deities shiva and gauri.

Thursday August 18th 2016 is the special day for all hindus who celebrate the great festival Janai Purnima and want to visit Gosainkunda Lake. The festival in india is called as Rakshya Bandhan while in Nepal it is celebrated as Janai Purnima and foreigner called as festival of sacred threads of the full moon.

Trekking Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Sightseeing day in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Drive to Dhunche [1,950m] [7-8 hrs Drive]
Day 04: Dhunche to Sing Gompa [3,254m] [4-5 hrs walk]
Day 05: Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda [4,336m] [5-6 hrs walk]
Day 06: Explore day in Gosaikunda
Day 07: Gosaikunda to Dhunche [5-6 hrs walk]
Day 08:  Dhunche-Kathmandu [6-7 hrs walk]
Day 09: Free for personal activities or guided tour on request
Day 10: Final Departure
