Teej 2076 - Festivals of Nepalese Woman

Teej is the biggest festival of Hindu women that falls on the third day of the first fortnight of the month of Bhadra. It is the three day festival celebrated by women in the honor of Lord Shiva and Parvati. This festival falls on Monsoon season in August.

Hindu women (either married or unmarried) celebrate this festival in three phases; first day feast day (Dar Khane Din), second day fasting day and third day rishi panchami puja. During festival celebration, married women go their maternal house and have a delicious food called Dar till the midnight, sing, dance, keep fasting praying the long life of their husband without having a drop of water. Unmarried women also keep fasting as they will be blessed by a good husband in future.

Located at an altitude of 4380m from the sea level in Rasuwa District, Gosaikunda is a sacred holy lake in Nepal. With a surface area of 13.8 ha, the gosaikunda lakes is 1030 ha with associated lakes and it has been listed as a Ramsar site on 29 September 2007.This is a important religious site as it is the abode of Hindu deities shiva and gauri.

Nepal Tourism Board is to organize Photo Exhibition

Nepal Tourism Board is going to organize photo exhibition named #photoNepal at Tourist Service Center in it's own premises for a quick glimpse of Nepali life and land through contemporary and archive photography by national and international photographers. The exhibition starts the first Friday of an English calendar month for 3 days. 5th, 6th and 7th are the first weekend dates for month August. The photography exhibition theme will be monsoon. The August session exhibition theme is monsoon by contemporary Nepali photographers and supported by PJ Club of Nepal. The aim of the exhibition is to promote Nepal Tourism and destinations through photography.
